When the sun is still sleeping and most of Montgomery County hasn’t stirred, Andre is already at work, orchestrating the daily symphony of meal deliveries that will touch the lives of 1,000 seniors across our community. Today, we celebrate Andre’s 14-year journey with Meals on Wheels Montgomery County.
A Journey of Growth and Impact
Andre’s story with MOWMC began modestly as a part-time driver. His exceptional dedication and leadership qualities shone through immediately, and within just two weeks, he stepped into a full-time role supervising three drivers. Today, as our Meal Delivery Manager, Andre leads a team of nine drivers and manages a fleet of eight delivery vans – a dramatic expansion from the three vans we operated when he first joined.
Beyond the Miles: Creating Lasting Connections
One of Andre’s most heartwarming contributions to MOWMC was his role in establishing our Birthday Bags Program. This initiative ensures that every client receives a special gift on their birthday, adding a personal touch to our services and reminding our seniors that they are valued members of our community. Remarkably, these Birthday Bags are 100% donated, showcasing the community’s support and Andre’s ability to inspire generosity in others.
The Early Bird Who Leads by Example
Every morning at 4:30 AM, while most of us are still in dreamland, Andre arrives at our facility to organize the day’s deliveries. His unwavering commitment ensures that hundreds of nutritious meals reach our clients reliably and efficiently. Under his leadership, our program has grown from serving 200 clients with just 3 delivery vans, to operating a fleet of 8 vans and collaborating with a network of dedicated volunteers.
A Legacy of Service
Andre’s dedication extends far beyond managing routes and supervising drivers. He embodies the spirit of Meals on Wheels – treating each client with dignity and respect and understanding that every delivery represents a vital connection to our homebound seniors.
