At Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, we’re proud to celebrate Jill Polhemus’s 5th anniversary with our organization. As our Client Liaison, Jill is crucial in connecting with our seniors and ensuring they receive the care they need.
A Personal Touch
Jill’s job involves much more than paperwork. She visits clients in their homes to qualify them for our program and conducts annual check-ins. But for Jill, these visits are about more than just assessments: “I truly enjoy getting to know my clients on a personal level,” Jill shares. “My favorite part is getting to hear their life stories.”
Making a Difference
Over the years, Jill has witnessed firsthand the impact of MOWMC on our client’s lives: “It’s truly inspiring to sit down with clients a year later and see the profound impact Meals on Wheels has had on their lives. The program goes beyond providing nutrition—it fosters meaningful personal connections. I often hear how much they cherish their volunteers and eagerly anticipate their visits, which have become a bright spot in their daily routines.”
Community Connections
Jill’s role extends beyond meal delivery. She is a vital link between our clients and community partners: “A meaningful part of my role is connecting our clients with incredible community partners who can provide additional support. For example, many of our clients need wheelchair ramps, and we’re fortunate to work with a few outstanding organizations that make this possible. It’s always rewarding to visit later and see the beautifully crafted ramps that have transformed their homes and lives. Additionally, I help connect clients with resources like the Montgomery County Hospital District (MCHD) for medical assistance and Habitat for Humanity for critical home repairs, ensuring they can live safely and comfortably in their homes.” Through Jill’s dedication, our clients receive meals and a comprehensive support system that enhances their quality of life.
As we celebrate Jill’s 5 years of service, we’re reminded of the profound impact one person can have. Her compassion and commitment embody the spirit of Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, making a difference in our seniors’ lives one visit at a time.
