We are excited to announce Summer Day as the new Executive Director of Meals on Wheels Montgomery County! Some of you may already know Summer, who for the past year was our Operations Manager in The Woodlands and oversaw our entire Meals on Wheels delivery program. As Operations Manager, she revised and streamlined operations, making it more efficient allowing us to increase meal-delivery services by 22% – reaching the most food-insecure, homebound seniors in our community.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” said Bill Crowl, of Crowl & Associates, PLLC, and Board Chair. “As our new Executive Director, Summer is bringing fresh leadership and creativity to the programs and cultivating a deep sense of commitment to the non-profit sector in our community.”
An extremely qualified candidate, Summer’s resume includes more than 15 years of experience in public relations, communications, administration, and planning across diverse industries. She has spent the last six years working in the non-profit community. Prior to her employment at Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, she served as the Program Manager of Days of Caring of Montgomery County and then Greater Houston. During her tenure at United Way, she grew her program capacity by 500% in five years, ultimately completing 479 projects and engaging over 1750 volunteers annually.
Summer is a graduate of University of Houston – Downtown. She has been a resident of Montgomery County for almost 20 years. Her passion has always been to assist those in need, which included spending time in Africa and Asia before settling in The Woodlands.
“My heart is serving those in need while building strong relationships with the team that fulfills that mission. My staff is the foundation of this organization and I am honored to work alongside such an amazing team. I am ready to take this to next level!”
