Creating Room to Grow
For 45 years, we’ve been serving Montgomery County from various locations. Many of you are probably familiar with our offices in a City of Conroe building and our kitchen in the community center on Lake Robbins Rd. in The Woodlands.
Community Snapshot
When our organization was founded, 75,000 people lived in Montgomery County. Today the population is nearly 8 times that, with seniors (65 and older) as the fastest growing demographic.
Currently 15% of the population are seniors. In the next 10 years, seniors are expected to make up closer to 20% of Montgomery County’s population.
As the need continues to grow, so does our need for a centralized space and larger kitchen – which makes us very excited to announce we’ll be moving into a new home, with LOTS of space to grow!

The New Space
This will be the first time since our inception to have our own building, helping to effectively serve the expanding needs of the senior population in Montgomery County.
Our new space is located at 111 S. 2nd Street in Downtown Conroe – acquired through the assistance of Montgomery County Community Development. This completely renovated space, in the former Montgomery County Food Bank Building, is made up of 109,000 square feet!
Currently each week, Chef John prepares more than 1,500 meals on ONE stove top at The Woodlands Community Center – one of the 3 dining halls for seniors. The meals are then transferred to the other 2 dining facilities in Magnolia and New Caney, as well as various pick-up points across the county for volunteers to deliver to home-bound seniors. The new space has a newly renovated kitchen with SEVEN ovens!
With all operations under a much larger roof, the possibilities are nearly endless. Imagine how many meals Chef John can make with that much more space!
We are so thankful for the opportunity to have a permanent location for Meals on Wheels. Our current kitchen has served us well but limited the number of meals we could prepare each day. The expanded kitchen in this new facility will allow us to have a significantly greater impact in our community and our homebound seniors.
How You Can Help
Thanks to assistance from the Montgomery County Community Development, overhead costs will remain at a minimum in our new home. As the new space increases our capacity to serve the growing senior population, the need for grocery money does increase as Chef John prepares more meals than ever before.

What We Do
The mission of Meals on Wheels Montgomery County is to foster the independence and dignity of homebound seniors by providing nutritious meals, transportation services and caring connections.
MOWMC delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors Monday through Friday with the help of more than 200 volunteers – covering 75 routes throughout the 1,000 square miles of Montgomery County. Since 1973, we have successfully delivered meals to local homebound seniors, currently delivering more than 130,000 meals annually. As we receive 100 calls a month requesting services, seniors in need are added to the waitlist each week.
The Senior Rides Bus program provides free curbside transportation to homebound seniors and the disabled; reducing the isolation associated with the inability to drive. MOWMC helps aging neighbors in our community remain well nourished, connected to the community, and independent within the comfort of their own home.
